Total Noob...Please help with first Kodi Box?

by BrownTown993

Hey everyone!

I am trying to pick up my first box to run Kodi after a referral from a friend. I have a 4K tv, so something that can play 4K would be ideal.

This is the one I was thinking of picking up - The M8S box.

( https://www.amazon.ca/Original-M8S-Android-Set-top-Bluetooth/dp/B01NCKB7IT/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1497726005&sr=1-3&keywords=m8s+android+tv+box _)

Can anyone tell me if this would be a good box? I've heard everyone say the Shield is the best box, but I don't know enough about the box specifications to know if it's worth the price.

Thanks for the help!!

That is not AndroidTV. That is a cheap box that uses a modified touch screen Android OS.

If you want AndroidTV than you need to look for a Mi Box, Shield, or Nexus (I believe discontinued).

Mi Box and Shield does Kodi/SPMC great. However, keep in mind that many Kodi add-ons been disappearing lately.

You can also do Amazon FireTV box. It can also do Kodi if sideloaded.

I would stay away from the cheap Android boxes.

Dirt cheap, (superior to any 4K Android Kodi) = LibreELEC, Kodi running on: AMLogic S905X box.
