Is it just me or does the voice search on the shield remote v2 suck?

On the new shield TV remote I've tried using the voice search and it's god awful. Trying to say simple stuff like "House of cards" doesn't work.

I've tried at least 20 times and it hasn't once detected what I'm saying correctly. Sometimes it will pick up the first word and then just wait. Other times it just picks up a garbled mess.

The controller is a different story though, it seems to work just fine and the accuracy is great. I don't know what's the deal with the remote.

I was having the same problem with my Nexus Player, until I realized that the remote batteries were too low. Check that?

I find voice control on both remote and controller to be unusable. It's works extremely well on my phone (I'm taking about Google assistant not android tv remote app) though.

I just want my Google home to control my ShieldTV

Mine is great on both the remote and the controller

Try holding the remote a little further from your face while speaking. I've found that it works best if it has around 3 feet of distance between it and has a harder time if I place it right up to my face.

For the past few months my voice control hasn't worked on my v1 Shield. I have factory reset it, reset the remote, and updated it's firmware. It sucks because my wife and daughters really enjoyed using it. My Mi Box still works perfect though.

I was having a problem with my remote recognizing almost anything. I cleaned out the mic holes with a damp old toothbrush and lo and behold it was working just as good as the controller again.

I agree but I honestly wouldn't worry about it since it's all about to be replaced with Google Assistant.

Unless it's a crappy hardware mic but I doubt it.
