[Bravia] Is there a way to replace the default channel app with live channels?

by Vrokolos

also is there a way for live channels to get epg info from the tv?

There's a Leanback app "TVirl" which can feed your local or online m3u's and EPGs into the default Live Channel app. TVirl is not released yet I think, but you can try the beta.

Once I was asked, the same way regular Android does, "which app would you like to open this with" when I pushed the TV button with an "only once" and "always" option. I chose my normal one always. If you can get that to come up then it will.

No Android TV devices get to have a oem supplied system-level app which has access to the OS channel database. Other apps you sideload won't be as system apps and won't have full access to the channels on the device.

You can sideload the live channels app and get it to work, (on marshmallow, not on Lollipop) but the epg info doesn't show up with the regular input through the TV. If you add a HD homerun as the source it does work correctly though. I did that then hid the TV input from the home screen in the settings menu.
