ShieldTV Netflix skipping and No Sound

With a few small exceptions, almost every video we try to play on netflix through our ShieldTV is skipping with no sound. This seems to only be a problem playing through the ShieldTV (maybe AndroidTV, no other devices to test). Only a very few shows still work. Futurama seems to be okay.

I have tried restarting the app, restarting the box, and even cleared data for the netflix app. Nothing has worked. Anyone else experienced or fixed this?

Update: Also happening with Amazon Prime for Some people.

UPDATE: Solved!!!! Go to your android tv settings. "Display & Sound" > "Advanced Settings" > "Surround Sound". Change it to "Auto".

Try changing the sound setting in settings while playing a video. That usually fixed it with Netflix for the girlfriend and I. From like Dolby 5.1 to something else.

Dunno about the skipping part.

Changing the Dolby 5.1 sounds settings fixed this for me

I just got my Shield TV and have been using it without issue for Plex. This weekend my wife and I tried to watch Bosch on Amazon Prime and had the exact same issue. I ended up switching over to my Roku Prem+ and had no issue.

Had the same problem earlier. I think one of the new shield updates caused it.

Anyway changing the enable surround sound option to auto fixed it for me. It was on always before.

Had been happening on mine since I've been to use it. I don't have a good either. Maybe a full reset or sideload an older version when it didn't stop the audio

Is it just Netflix? I've been getting a similar issue at random as far as the no sound goes, but I get it in random apps and not just Netflix.

Holy shit thanks for posting the edit. This was driving me nuts. What a weird behavior from that root cause.
