Self contained DVR options for the shield now include (no back end running DVR engine):

• Live Channels - very limited DVR, free, supports HDHR device (maybe other tuners), access limited to single device
• Plex - beta and fairly limited live TV functionality, requires Plex Pass starting at $5/mo, HDHR devices + other tuner support , accessible via local network and external network devices
• HDHomerun - fairly robust with subscription, $35/yr, requires HDHR device, accessible via local network devices
• Tablo Engine - fairly robust with subscription, $4/mo, requires Tablo dual Tuner ($70) or Hauppauge WinTV tuner , access limited to single device

Am I missing any?

I would pull the trigger on this if it had live channels app support but it doesn't.

Is this much better than using the Live Channels? I havent set it up yet but probably will when the NFL season comes around.

Will Tablo Engine be available for other AndroidTV devices such as MiBox?
