YouTube for Android TV v2.0 brings a major redesign and finally allows autoplay to be turned off

Note: the apk out so far is x86 only which means it will only install on the Nexus Player. Will not work on Shield TV, Mi Box, or Sony TVs. Hopefully the arm apk will come out soon.

Great, so when can we make Play Music not totally suck on Android TV. I wanted to listen to some ZZ Top the other day and it took over a minute to scroll that far down.

It looks like shit. Its not Android, its a website. Fuck Google for shitting on their own product.

...and what YouTube Kids, Google?

FoferJ

Does this version finally allow us to add a video to the "Watch Later" (or any) playlist? Or otherwise bookmark/save them, in some way?

ProgrammerPlus

Do we need to wait till IO 2018 for the update to be released?

PalebloodSky

This is great, it's about time Google supported AndroidTV (if only just a little).

I don't know about any other consoles but this is definitely the YouTube UI on my PS3 at the moment. It works well. I'm not going to go installing an APK (whatever that is) for my Nexus Player, so when would this likely become the default Android TV YouTube player?

phdzor

about freaking time, but now im wondering how long we are going to wait for arm version

El_Burrito_Grande

No access to Watch Later or am I just not seeing it? It still looks bad just in different ways. I don't know why they can't make a good YT app. So weird.

Anyone else on this? I have two channels on my YouTube account - one of which is just my name, and the other is where I watch all my content. Even though the other is my default channel in youtube settings, I can only log onto the one that is my name, so I can't see any of my recommended videos or subscriptions.

Fucking irritating. Anyone have any ideas how to fix?

placidcasual98

Can't select video quality in the app while watching video 🤔

turmoggy

They also got rid of the QWERTY keyboard which is a step backwards.

placidcasual98

I don't want to use up all my data on 1080p video

Rhed0x

Looks like they aren't using the leanback support library anymore.

That doesn't look like a proper Android TV app.

Does anyone have the arm apk? What is going playing at lol
