I originally bought the Xaomi Mi Box while using a very old 720p tv, and it worked masterfully, aside from the fact that DTS decoding doesn't seem to actually work. Said 720p tv got some dead pixels so to speak and I decided to finally get a modern TV.
Now when I play a file through Plex, whether it be TV/Movie, if it has an aspect ratio other than 16:9, the video plays quickly, while the audio plays at normal speed. It's not as though the video is being fast forwarded either, more like a very high framerate.
I've changed about every setting on the TV and Mi Box to try and solve the issue, including changing the device's resolution to 1080p, 720p, 480p, etc. Strangely, none of those have any affect.
I would assume it's the TV somehow screwing it up, but I recommended the device to someone else who has a completely different 4k tv, and he too experiences the same problem.
I tried Google searching but I didn't find any relevant information. Does anyone else experience this issue, and is there any solution? Since it doesn't occur in other apps, I assume it may be a bug with the Android TV Plex app somehow. Still, I think it's very weird that it works flawlessly on a 720p TV, but when connected to a 4k tv, even when the resolution of the device is set to 720p, the issue still persists..
Thanks!
Simply don't use the Plex App. Use Kodi and the Plex for Kodi Addon interface:
