Maybe I didn't do enough googling but does anyone know details of a Youtube TV app? I'm holding off until they have a dedicated app. I know there isn't currently an app for android tv but is there one in the works?

Not yet but like google assistant you can get it on your iphone i think google wants us to go apple
My guess based on absolutely nothing is that because Android O is going to be a pretty big overhaul, they are waiting until then to release it and then can integrate everything together.
I don't see a YouTube TV app coming until we get a Pixel Player by Google.
I'm waiting for the same thing. I actually prefer casting but not everyone in my family does. And if I have company it's easier to hand someone a remote than hand someone my phone so they can change the channel. I emailed youtube tv Tuesday asking them when there will be a native android tv app and they still have not responded.
I have Youtube TV on my android box, definitely exists
