He might try using an HDMI to DVI adapter .
Provided he has an HDMI input on the monitor it will work. HOWEVER unless said monitor supports HDMI 1.4 and HDCP he will not be able to use Netflix at HD and various other video services that are quickly gravitating to DRM to protect their streams.
