Opinions? Thinking about picking one up. Is it worth the $69.99?

The problems it has will cost $130 to be fixed (by buying a shield). Try one out and decide yourself. To me, the remote is worth $20-$30 alone.
My advice is this, If you have a basic setup (like a 1080p set or less, no real sound system) this thing is great and works very well. If you got 7.1 on a $1800 AV receiver ran to your 4k TV you plan to chromecast 4K HDR at 60FPS and full surround sound, you'll likely be disappointed.
I'd recommend a shield or FTV2 for 4K personally.
Yes. Zero problems for all my streaming apps. If you plan on doing heavy graphic Android gaming or PC game streaming than you would need the more powerful hardware on the Shield.
"Worth it" is more based on your usage. For streaming only (Netflix, Vue, Hulu, Kodi, Live Channels, etc) than the Mi Box is the only one that is "worth it".
I prefer the Mi Box over other "worth it" streaming boxes, but you do have choice. FireTV Box is similar priced and there is also Apple TV for more but not crazy more. The choice is OS.
I have a shield and a mi box and I love them both. Because of the price, I have ordered another mi box.
For the price its totally worth it.
Very happy with my MiBox. Netflix, SPMC, YT and GPM are the main things I use it for. And I really like having a built-in Chrome cast.
I own one and love it. Works great with my Logitech harmony setup, Plex, and Netflix. Oh and Spotify works well also. Can stream from any device as it shows up as a Google cast device.
I'd get a shield if I had more time and what I mean by that is side loading emulators/ROMs. Knowing I don't have much time to play that I stuff I opted for the MiBox.
I've seen some posts in the past where YMMV with regards to Netflix streaming or HDMI-CEC issues. In general it's been consistent for me. That being said if you want a rocking set top that will do loads more and always deliver in terms of experience then get the shield.
If you want to save $20 get the 3 year old Nexus Player. Has the advantage of running Android-O. https://flash.newegg.com/Product/9SIAAM856E1118 Also available from walmart.com for $10 more. Biggest disadvantage is that it is only 2k versus miBox at 4K. It also seems slower.
I just bought one, it's the best option on non-US countries too
miBox is ok but hbo go and HBO now will not work at all FYI. Get a shield tv on eBay.
It is not a supported device according to HBO. You cannot cast the apps either.
Get the shield
Totally worth it for me. Next best option shield TV is too pricey for my usage.
