This seems a worse app, more like a wrapper than a native app, that takes advantage of the platform, it's shocking that it's from google.
PS: before the replies telling me I know it improves certain things, but doesn't justify the UI quality, hell this should be the same android youtube app of the phone with the UI auto adapting, and with it google showing how "easy" is to develop once for android and get a phone, tablet, tv, car app, but no google forgot all about that (like fragments and tablet UIs) after android 5
Besides the UI running at something like 30 fps now regardless of resolution, they committed a major sin in that it's no longer possible to sign in with a different youtube account than the sole google account that you are allowed to be signed into a Mi Box with at any given time.
Fuck that. I'm downgrading and preventing the app from upgrading until if and when they rectify that situation. Makes the app unusable for me.
If you are one of those people who has a youtube account that is 5 years old or more that is different from your regular google account then it can no longer be used at all as far as I can tell with this version of the Android TV app.
*this just seems like downgrade all around. It looks identical to the version of Youtube that runs natively on my Vizio TV that hasn't been updated in at least 18 months.
Any major changes?

Honestly prefer the material card style of the old app. It's one of the reasons I bought an Android TV box to replace my old Libreelec S905 box. I am tempted just to go back to my old box.
The old app was simple, fast, clean and easy to use.
This looks ok but everything is so fiddly and hidden behind other menus.
Still no 4K support either, S905X can do 4K VP9 why is it still limited to 1080p.
I use PiHole and it's not blocking ads now. Guess it's time to ditch MiBox.

I haven't liked the update, before the update I rarely get video ads, now they are coming almost for every video.. 😡, YouTube improving for monetization not for user experience. And also ui isn't pleasing, but why sudden major change, 😐
I didn't see the word app . I thought this was an update to Android 7.
