I wouldn’t mind all the changes except it added another new problem that I didn’t have before. When I’m using the progress bar, the first press to the left to make it go back 10 seconds moves the video FORWARD 10 seconds instead! Wth??
Edit: It’s broken parts of HopWatch too. Opening links from the app doesn’t recognize YouTube Red because it doesn’t see you signed in, so ads play when using HopWatch. I’ve uninstalled the update. I can’t believe how bad this is.
Hell yes! I don't care for the UI changes in the slightest, I only care about a way to finally disable autoplay. There have been countless times that I fell asleep watching a YouTube video and then had 6 hours of the strangest shit in my watch history. It's a pain deleting that many videos from my watch history, which is necessary to fix my suggestions.
The app is a hundred times more responsive now.
This is just their Smart TV app, which is just a webpage. It's the same on all TVs and game consoles. YouTube.com/tv to see it in a browser.
Wow the new interface is basically the same interface I've been using on my PS4! It's interesting to know that Google updates the PS4 YouTube app before the Android TV.
No update for me yet
A thumbs up or down isn't as easy to get to anymore. I also don't like that I can't change the quality.
Is this for the 2015 Sony Bravia maybe?
The one thing that really bothers me about this update is that longer videos now abruptly stop in the middle to play ads. It really pisses me off because I could solve the problem by getting YouTube Red.... but I don't want to hand them money to make an annoying problem they just created go away.
Even when we try to watch legitimately they neuter the experience (Netflix)
Would be nice to have left/right buttons on my DPAD remote skip back/fwd, without having to open the interface, scroll right and click.
I just found that the video loses frames every time the resolution is upped. It is annoying and was not present in the previous version.
Question for those who've side loaded the apk: If I side load, is there any reason I wouldn't still receive OTA updates when they roll out?
I once flashed a beta AOSP ROM of Android N back in the day to my NP, and was annoyed to fine out doing so broke access to OTA updates. I had to revert back and "check for updates" to start again receiving OTA. I'm sure this is probably not the same, but I would just like to hear from those who know for certain.
Had to go back to the old version because with this one the screen saver was starting even while watching a video. I can't comprehend how they release an app with such big an oversight...
This update means ads! Don't update!!!!
My comments from the other thread.
Well, that's disappointing. No way to change your login channel, so I can't view any of my subscriptions because they're not on the default. No way to change video quality either. I can turn off Auto-Play though...
One step forward, two steps back.
