MLB TV stream loses audio after commercial on Shield

Seeing if anyone else has this problem. I bought the Shield TV a couple of months ago and returned it because I just didn't think I could justify the price at the time. No problems at all. Picked it up again on the Best Buy sale last week and now I can't watch MLB.tv. Every time it cuts to commercial, the audio doesn't return. If I tell it to go to "live", audio comes back on.

I've been using casting from my phone to watch instead, but obviously I'd prefer the native app to work the way it should (and seem to do on the 1st Shield I bought).

I've cleared the cache and data. Uninstalled, restarted, and installed the app again. Still a problem.

Thoughts/fixes?

Same issue with both the Mi Box and the Shield TV. Seems like it has only started since the commercial overlays started. I have to reset the stream every half inning/commercial break.

My money is on the app/MLB.tv issue

In my experience it is a problem on Android, not localized to the Shield. It happens to my Pixel and my Shield.

So it could be the MLB.tv apk or it could be Android 7.0+

I don't have enough data to say for sure, but I do know it's not isolated to the Shield.

Seen this happen on my friends smart tv, non android. The commentators audio is gone, but you can still hear audio from the field.

Same issue on both the Shield and Nexus Player. Going off the reviews in the play store it seems to be a pretty widespread issue over various devices so hopefully it gets addressed soon.

I'm experiencing the same thing. Don't think it is something we can fix on our end.

Same issue on my Sony Android TV box. Contacted their MLB Fan Support via Twitter because the update (also around the All Star break) last year caused the HD streaming to drop out. I asked them to submit the feedback to their developers. I have a Roku device just so I can watch MLB.tv games with the Android TV app craps out.

Same here. It's been pretty much perfect the last 3 seasons till this latest app update.

Experiencing the same thing.

But this just started happening for me.

I went away for 10 days last week (July 6-15) and came back to have this happening.

The android TV app is pretty much crap, from what I can see. I had that problem throughout the game I was watching last night, and the app crashed to the launcher once too.

Kodi has an MLB.tv plugin that works better, though you lose some functionality like seeking to specific innings.
