I am planing to buy a xiaomi mi box but I have some questions.

Is 8 gb enough? What's the free space out of the box? I don't want to play games, just streaming apps + some occasional app.

How's the casting experience? I don't have a chromecast and I would like to use the feature some times. Thank you!

I have all the apps I need (about 8 apps loaded) and not even using a gig of storage. Without gaming, 8 GB is overkill.

It's fine.

I have two of these; and have installed a 128GB Kingston flash drive on both in anticipation of any future TV tuner solutions.

Sorry, I have never casted to this device.

The casting is a little different than chrome cast but it works well you get around 5gb free out of the box a 16gb usb drive can be found for under $10

8gb is plenty on a TV box.

Casting works just like a Chromecast.

i have over like 40 apps installed in my mi box and I still have like 2gb available. They're all mostly streaming apps. the only gaming app i have is the super retro SNES emulator and Moonlight.

for casting it works as it should. I have a chromecast and its almost the same thing. I haven't used my chromecast since I bought my mi box 5 months ago. I can cast from soda player, netflix, youtube and more. The only issue I found was when you're tab/desktop casting a video and you put it into full screen. The colors are off and there's a horizontal green line on the left side. I posted this issue 5 months ago and its still there even after several updates from chromecast extension receiver. https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/5uzvlg/casting_issues_with_green_lines_on_the_left_for/
