Nexus Player: Remote Replacement

by vanasian

Which remote would pair with the Bluetooth nicely? My OEM remote just died. :(

Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick remotes pair nicely over Bluetooth. But voice search won't work though.

Expensive, but Harmony Hub

You could use the Android TV remote on your phone?

my kids broke my remote too what i ended up is using the Android tv remote app for cellphone. if you have an extra old cell you dont use u can just install the app and use the cell as a remote. cheap quick way to make the nexus work again.

Posting to see what gets recommended for when this happens to me.

Can you tell us how long (and often) you used the oem remote so we can see what to expect for ourselves too?

Don't buy a mi box remote. Totally doesn't work on the nexus.

Fire TV Stick remote with out voice search is the best option if you can get one. The next cheapest thing is just to get a replacement Nexus Player

Asus sells a gaming remote that pairs with Nexus player. Voice input does not work.

sigh, i feel you. I just ended up buying another Nexus player off ebay lol

I use a MX3 pro air mouse instead of the Nexus Player remote. It's awesome because it works as a regular remote and a mouse. You can even use it with a tv after you program a few keys from your ir tv remote. I only needed a cheap otg USB hub to plug in the dongle for it to work.
