US Mi Box: saw July update / failed update

by minhgi

Just want to confirm if anyone has received a July 2017 update with description security patch with size of 493MB or 443MB? I click on the restart button too fast and I couldn't remember the actual size. My Mi Box is on the Feb Nougat beta version / none root. I wonder if accidentally received a push-down for Marshmallow or another Nougat beta? Can someone confirm?

Really was just a security update, it still continues in version 6.0.1 security update of July 1

I'm on Marshmallow and I got this today, but it installed successfully for me. I think you guys on the beta mistakenly got pushed this for some reason when you shouldn't have.

*Update seems to have fixed the ocassional frame and sound dropout with 60fps youtube videos (at least in my non-updated and preffered version of the youtube app). That bug seems to come and go with every mi box update that is reported to include bug fixes as this one does.

*never mind. Still happening.

No way you would receive Nougat beta via OTA unless you are registered in beta tester group.

The latest OTA for the general public will NOT INSTALL on any box with Nougat (beta) installed, as it would involve downgrading to Marshmallow.

If you received this update notification while using Nougat, it is because you have a box s/n that is not included in the Beta group and represents a glitch on Xioami's backend.

Nothing to worry about as official Nougat should be forthcoming and you will be back on track.

I also have the update and I have Nougat beta. It also failed updating. Have no idea what this was.

I received the update notification as well, let's see if it will install, It's a little too large to be just a security update.

Thanks all. I definitely think it could been a glitch in Xaomi backend system. But that update is not usual small OTA, since it is large enough to contain the whole system partition. I am just curious what is it. Marshmallow or could be Nougat? What new?

On the April Beta: downloaded, restarted to install & it failed, "Error." Power cycled & it rebooted normally.

It's just the July security update & bug fixes anyways.

Just did the July update.

My Netflix no longer shows 4K, just HD.

WTF its bad enough they pretend to give HDR and dont. Now this :/

Edit:

Rebooting a few times did not help.

What did work was :

• Changed mi display from 4k 60 to 4k 30,

• Went to apps and cleared netflix data and cache.

• Changed display back to 4k 60

• Rebooted the Mi

• Then logged back into Netflix

4k streams were back.

Thinking that after the security update when it "optimized" the apps it messed something up.

This is what worked for me. So if after you update and you only see HD try this.

I got it, and installed it just now, It said bug fixes and July update. ~384MB I am not a beta tester.

I received a July 2017, but when I downloaded. restart & install, it was stuck in "rebooting now...", nothing happened after that. How can I solve this problem?

scottalias2

Bluetooth works, now.

At least this update let us know that who is on Nougat beta, will likely receive the final version by OTA. I was afraid it was broken/locked.
