60fps Youtube video on Android TV (Sony X700D)

by cdlq456

Hi! I'm having an issue with my TV that is driving me crazy, and I can't find anyone else who posted about this.

When I watch 60 fps YouTube videos on my Sony Bravia X700D it drops some frames, the videos stutter quite a lot... I tried factory restoring it and it didn't change nothing.

Is anyone else experiencing the same with their tv? Is this a general problem with the YouTube app on Android TV? Is my TV not powerful enought? (It's weird because 4k HDR 60fps works perfect when I play something from an USB stick)

I appreciate any information. Thank you!

The Xiaomi Mi Box had the same issue. It's the reason I upgraded to the Shield as YouTube is the main way my family consumes video. There was recently a huge YouTube app update so make sure you have the update but I'm not sure if it fixes the issue.

Same issue. Always lowering the video settings to 720p if it's 60FPS

I haven't had this issue with the Shield TV.

I upgraded to the latest Youtube apk, and it seemed to improve the video performance for me

I have this too on an older model, X850C. The updated YouTube doesn't really help. It simply notices it's too slow for 4k 60fps and then reverts to a lower resolution automatically. Weird thing is, if I cast it to my TV it does play properly for 5 seconds or so and then reverts to a lower quality, so it might be it has to little ram to buffer a 4k 60fps video or something.
