MiBox external HDD as Movies on Kodi 17

by kaswardy

I'm loving the MiBox especially with how easy it is to use the external HDD. I added a 2TB WD Passport and I can easily load up my movies through Kodi 17. However, they are not being listed with posters under movies. I have to use Files > External HDD. This also does not allow me to automatically download subtitles and I really need that feature.

How can I go about adding the movie directory on my external HDD as a Movie Source.

Also, I wanted to know if I can ftp to the external storage attached to the MiBox through my computer connected on the same local network. This will make it much easier to transfer files rather than plugging in and out.

Did you "set content" for that source and scan it in?

You have bought the wrong box if you want to transfer files to external connected HDD's. Android comes with all sorts of security limitations to prevent this. Yes its a PITA.

Buy an AMLogic S905(x) box and run LibreELEC Kodi on it if you want to do this easily. Its virtually Plug n Play then for file transfers.
