The upscaling in the Nvidia Shield to 4k60P does not work as good as in my Samsung UHD TV. I clearly see 1080p and 720p material looking worse using Shield that directly on TV.

Not currently possible if you want to keep the GUI in 4K. If not, just go to settings and drop down the resolution to 1080p.
Since android apps can't switch resolutions for now, only solution is to set resolution to 1080p in the Shield settings. This only works if you don't watch 4K, obviously.
I don't bother personally. While Samsung's upscaler looks better at first glance, it seems to oversharpen and produce artifacts so I actually prefer the shield's upscaling.
