Mi box netflix VPN

by Sandwichface360

Hey guys not sure if this is the place to ask , i recently purchased a mi box and am using a vpn to access american netflix from Australia, i can log in and search movies but when i try and play one it buffers to 25 on the loading wheel and no further , anyone know how to fix this ? Thanks in advance

Most VPN services don't support streaming. You'll probably need to setup a smart DNS service like Overplay, and also manually block google public DNS which is hard coded into netflix. Netflix was the only one I couldn't get to work properly with overplay until I figured that last bit out.

might depend on your VPN mate, i know netflix have been fucking with us aussies for a while now.

Basically it stops at 25% when it doesn't seem to get enough bandwidth to start streaming.if you try running a vpn on some other device then connect mibox then it'll play.same issues sometimes happen with my android tv when I use a vpn to stream

I have the same issue. Netflix plays 100% fine on all my devices (pc/tablet/Chromecast), except the mibox, where it behaves as you describe.

Yes. Works fine without VPN (I actually was using a DNS proxy, not a VPN), but the results were the same.

Getflix works OK (with short but rather frequent downtimes), don't forget to enable Netflix on your account. Also last I heard ExpressVPN works much better.

Both will give you Smart DNS and VPN services, Smart DNS are the ones I'm talking about above. Most VPNs won't work as they don't change their servers frequently enough and don't distribute their clients thinly enough to effectively avoid getting their IPs blacklisted.

By the way, Getflix is having a sale: https://stacksocial.com/sales/getflix-lifetime-subscription . Do their free trial, see if you like it. As I've mentioned, their service isn't perfect, but it works almost all of the time. If you have any doubts about whether this deal is legit, ask Getflix support, they'll confirm it.

By the way 2, buffering up to 25% actually means that the content isn't loading. You will notice that the AndroidTV Netflix buffers at a steady rate sometimes, but will only do it for an additional 25% before stopping temporarily (or permanently). Looks to me like they wanted an illusion of smoother loading.
