Anyway to get rid of input lag using NES and SNES emulators on a Mi Box?

by Navigator_Party

It doesn't seem to matter what app I use, and even game mode on the tv doesn't help. Any workaround out there?

Make sure your tv is in game mode.

Edit: I clearly didn't read that properly.

Are you using any filters on the emulators?

Mine gets that way if I try using fancy settings.

What TV do you use? In some Philips TV very big INPUT lag and you can't do anything. I have 50PUS6809/60, its good smart 4k TV but INPUT lag so big that its incompatible with my PS4 in any working mode

Use a wired controller as there is always inherent lag in using a Bluetooth controller. Some emulators support Xinput meaning an Xbox controller will work just fine.

I had horrible input lag on mine on one TV. Tried it with another and it was fine.

It's definitely something with the NES/SNES emulators cuz my MAME emulator has zero input lag.

Android has probably the worst input lag of any emulation platform (PC being the best, then Linux, then RetroPie (which is Debian Linux of course), then Mac, then Android). That said: If you're going with Mi Box emulation check the following:

  1. Be sure your TV is on game mode.
  2. Use RetroArch. The project has done a lot of work on input lag reduction and has many options to play with for input lag reduction.
  3. Android 7.0+ (even the beta) for the best possible input lag.
  4. Use a good quality USB wired controller.

The default refresh rate for emulators is usually 60Hz, but most screens are slightly off on that like 59.84Hz, and that variance can cause input lag. You can set the value to "automatically detect screen's refresh rate" to set it to your actual screen refresh. It should help.
