Shouldn't i be able to control my Mi Box with my tv remote?

I bought a new 40 inch tcl roku tv and I see under the CEC settings that the mibox is listed as a CEC device but I can't figure out how to control it with the tv remote. Any help?

Sometimes you have to turn on the CEC option from within the television;s OSD/menus, or you're forced to use a specific HDMI port on the back. I would dive into the user manual to see if it mentions anything there. They might also be hiding CEC under a different "trade" name like LG's SimpLink or Samsung's AnyNet+.

I know on my Samsung, I have to choose a single device to connect to in the TV's menus for CEC commands. This allows me to use my TV remote to navigate the UI on my Shield TV.

I also have a TCL tv but it isn't roku it is AndroidTV, even me too see, it is listed, I could only control playback settings like video controls, pause, play, stop,etc.. I couldn't operate totally my mi box with this TCL tv..
