Anyone else's Mi Box stutter when watching videos on Netflix/Plex etc? Is there a way to fix this?

Yes. For me, it comes and goes. Maybe changing the video output to 50hz does something (but obviously goodbye to 60fps), maybe limiting background processes to 4 or less does something.
Limit background processes - I went for 2 - certainly helped to get rid of microstutter for me...
I have had issues with stuttering even with audio only apps (Spotify, Pocket Casts chromecasting) that I could only fix with a factory reset.
I returned mine for this reason.
I had similar issue with mine. Tried nearly every setting I could find online to change, nothing fixed it. A factory reset would fix it for a few hours, but then back to square one. I recently manually flashed the firmware from a USB and that has seemed to fix it for now (been about a week with zero stuttering). Good luck!
I've tried limiting the background process to no avail. I've even uninstalled all the apps that I didn't use. All for nothing. Still get the occasional lag/stutter. My next step is gonna be a factory reset ☹️
Kodi / Plex / SPMC on the NVIDIA Shield only can do Auto App Refresh switching to match the TV's refresh rate to that of the source video's frames per second if setup correctly. This results in smooth video playback. Especially when a TV's 24p Movie or Cinema mode is then activated.
Other Apps on Android TV devices, Mi Box & the Shield cannot do Auto App Refresh switching to match the TV's refresh rate to that of the source video's frames per second.
You either have to make an educated guess and Refresh switch manually or put up with either 3:2 Pulldown video judder or mismatched fps and TV refresh rates.
Some TV's can eliminate 3:2 pulldown judder completely via various settings (Reverse telecine). Others use motion interpolation and smoothing to lessen the judder effects.
I have the same issue since the latest July update (not the beta but the stable one). This is certainly not an issue with refresh rate fps sync, since the device freezes for half a second (sound "freezes" too, looping like the last milli second or so) and it happens regardless of which app/content i play. Even happens on Spotify.
Have not found a solution, but have also not tried factory reset yet.
I get the random sound stutter does it on anything that plays video , I noticed it happens when i install vlc / mx player , if i do factory reset and not install these 2 i dont get the stutter anymore and have tested over a week ,
them 2 video players i really need as i use them for few apps :( hope some update is released to fix this
I did a factory reset and that fixed it... for awhile and then started slowly happening again but not as frequent as before i did the factory reset. I'm pretty sure this is a software issue.
I honestly feel it's more of a driver issue with the CPU/GPU and I hope they fix it in nougat.
The unit doesn't auto switch the refresh rate. I'm not sure what FPS Netflix uses but I know when I'm watching a movie through SPMC I have to swith my display in settings to 24hz, then back to 60 (I think it is) for Netflix etc.
