I like the new YouTube app

by dachuggs

I really like the new YouTube app. It's less clunky compared to the other one.

groac

lol, don't feed the troll

Business-is-Boomin

No control over resolution is an immediate killer for me.

vicelversa

Hate it. Subscription section is whack. The interface itself is bloated and overcomplicated.

And if if you use hopwatch to watch reddit videos, it's a nightmare.

pinkhalo1

I'm mixed. Things I like better, things that are obviously a step back. I don't care enough though and I'll just roll with it.

electrona

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the pop up that says I've signed in when I opened the app?

CTU

I hate it. If i could not delete updates and use the old app i would not be watching much youtube

mbsurfer

I would like it if it supported sub-accounts

idokfire

I do too. With all of the negative posts, I thought I was the only one who liked it lol.

I like the look as well, I've never been a big fan of the standard "left hand menu" style on Android TV, personally.

But until it supports brand accounts, I'm sticking with the old one.

I just got my nvidia shield yesterday and coming from the ps4 app man you guys have got it good. I seriously don't know what all the complaints are about the app is way better than the ps4 version. Unless I'm still running the old one? What is the main problem with the app? I really like it too.

runout

Youtube Red Originals don't play they start but then get stuck buffering, I have to cast them and they work fine.

Other than that I like the interface.

neogrinch

I actually like it too to a degree. It's slower than the old app though, which is a bummer. I wish the features I like in it were integrated into the old app though instead of this slower web wrapper thingy.

lordlad

tell me your feelings if you got a 4k tv..

also, have the cheque from google cleared yet?

foundfootagefan

I actually like it more than the old one. The old one was less information dense and the player controls covered too much of the screen. The new one is also much more responsive and I don't miss the lack of resolution control because my Nexus Player now always starts at 1080p, but I will set it to 1080p once the feature gets added back in. I only have 1 google account so switching isn't a problem for me, so I'm biased.

The only thing I don't like is that the menus and player controls don't look modern. They look too much like the old smart TV YouTube app and I would think an Android TV 2.0 app would at least update the look to be more sleek and less dull. However, the increased responsiveness makes up for the dull smart TV design.

theallen247

there always has to be one

I know theres a lot of hate over but I actually like it as well. It's completely gotten rid of the 60fps video stutter. I'm finding more and more content now with the new layout and it just feels more responsive to me.

I am however pretty pissed I can't do 4k right now but I can wait so long as the 60fps stutter doesn't come back.

Andrroid

Such a divisive post.

Why did you post this?
