Questions for a new buyer

I don't know much about these boxes other than there seem to be a lot of them. I want an android box to:

  • watch netflix -watch movies off a USB drive -stream live nba games

do most android boxes do those things? During my research, it seems you can get netflix and live sports pretty easy but im not getting a lot of answers regarding watching movies on USB drives

Finally, do you have any suggestions for a good box? I live in Canada if that means anything, I can settle for not having live sports but I would really like the netfix and USB drives to be a feature

Can your eyes tell the difference between Netflix at 480 res compared to HD or UHD? The answer should narrow down your choices.

You can use the kodi or vlc app to play movies off a hard drive

There really aren't a lot of Android TV devices. There's like 2 readily available on store shelves. Check the sidebar or go here for more info about devices that run the official Android TV operating system.

It sounds like you're confusing Android boxes with Android TV devices. There are definitely dozens of junk boxes from China that are essentially all clones of each other. They run regular touchscreen Android. We don't recommend those.

There are actually very, very few Android TV devices on the market, and tons of Chinese knockoffs. Be sure to only buy one of the following official Android TV devices, or you'll be sorry:

  • ADT-1 (developer kit)
  • Nexus Player (discontinued)
  • Nvidia Shield (most powerful)
  • Razer Forge TV (discontinued)
  • Xiaomi Mi Box (most affordable)

You're not talking about Android TV at all. You're talking about shitty Chinese boxes running regular Android.

Research what Android TV is.
