Annoying "Welcome! You're signed in" popup everytime I open new Youtube on Android TV

by oroboros74

Is there a way to avoid this?

Why should I be constantly signing in?

I installed the version just before the 2.0 update and disabled auto updates on my shield.

The new version is garbage and doesn't work properly and has too much clunky stuff in it.

The previous version was much more user friendly. Submit a review and let them know it sucks.

More annoying to me is you can no longer type searches using the keyboard of the remote app. WTF would they break functionality like that?

idokfire

Agreed. Annoying and not necessary.

I don't like the fact you can't use different accounts on youtube anymore. I jave a different Google account that has the youtube red trial that i was using but no longer can.

What I did was uninstall the update and block autoupdate..but Im afraid Google shot itself in the foot again, wont deviate from this path, and make us abandon AndroidTV.

Google have lost the plot.

One "smaller" issue with this new youtube app is with non English keyboard locales, first of all the new built in keyboard of the YouTube app doesn't support åäö letters. "Well fine I'll just use my hardware keyboard" nope! Doesn't work with that either. For example if I try to search videos about Kimi Räikkönen, I have to replace those ä letters with a and type Kimi Raikkonen or I would end up with Kimi Rikknen.

Most of the time youtube seems to be clever enough to understand what I mean is I replace ä with a and ö with o. However I surely hope that this isn't the way that android tv is heading with other apps as well, then any logins that has åäö or other non English letters on the username or in the passwords.

The older TV version of YouTube was so much better compared to this new/old crap shoved down our throats. Just like the garbage ROKU app.

ahoneybun

Does that on the Xbox version too.

Just got the updated ATV app and boy is it bad. There's some interesting ideas in it, but talk about lazy garbage just wrapping over the bad interface smart tvs use.

Use the platform you've built to its fullest, Google.

Does anyone know how to go forward or back in a video in the new app? I'm using a MiBox and can't work it out.

Another disadvantage : my android TV is in a locale and i setup the voice recognition to work in another language

Because the youtube webapp uses its own microphone access to record the voice, when i speak i am forced to use the system locale...
