Chromecast Ultra vs Sony XE9 TV's built-in Chromecast

by pastorsauce

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i'l give it a shot:

I just purchased a new Sony Android TV (KD-55XE9005) which I see have Chromecast "built in" by default. I already have a Chromecast Ultra device from before, and I guess what i'm curious about is which one is "better" in terms of picture quality, performance etc.

4K casting capability may make a difference here, but that's not really what you're asking.

I'd think it would be even. Perhaps, perhaps, later updates to the Chromecast might make differences in specific scenarios, but I don't anticipate that will apply often.

Also, if you have both, test for us.

AndroidTV will not do HDR through Google play at the moment. Only the ultra will.

Just bought a new Sony x900e and spent 30 bucks on a uhd HDR movie through google play only to find out it doesn't work. Netflix and Amazon works fine though. Thankfully Google refunded the money.

Internal for sure. You will get better audio and video quality simply because adding cables adds noise
