You could probably do just that, obtain the apk for the architecture of the device and install it. Keep in mind the phone/tablet version probably isn't dpad optimized so you may need to use a keyboard/mouse, and they're planning on releasing a Youtube TV for Android TV app somewhat soon anyway so it might not be worth the trouble
