I bought a new Vizio sound bar and also ditched direct-tv. I set the sound bar in the center open slot of my tv console and set the Mi Box on top on the center of the sound bar. I started using my Logitech 650 with everything since I realized that day I could program to use the sound bar and Mi Box. So for the next few weeks I've been so damn frustrated with it buffering. I thought I was being throttled. Didn't seem so with other devices though. Updated router firmware and everything. It's 4 years old and so is my cable modem. I was pretty close to replacing both just because I'm so frustrated. I moved my Mi Box off the sound bar to the top of my tv stand today because I figured it might be getting to hot. Doesn't feel warm really but it damn sure worked. I'm not buffering at all anymore. Now I know heat isn't a friend to any electronic and I have my router and modem open so they get plenty of air. But my sound bar isn't putting off much heat.
Has anyone else had buffering/lag issues then realize it was getting hot? I hope this was definitely the issue and I'm not on some placebo high.
TL:DR heat may cause buffering issues. Try moving your Mi Box
The heat dissipating capacity is phenomenal. It has a thick metal plate nearly the full expanse of the top cover.
Any question of heat related issues with MiBox is definitely caused by environmental issues, as you discovered.
Good basic troubleshooting. Sadly, most redditors lack even the basics, or the inclination to use them.
