So.. a little backstory here.
I'm moving, and for a short time I'm going to use my powered JBL LSR305's with the TV.
I want to pick up a Shield TV or other android box.
The question is volume, how would I control it? Does Shield have its own volume control that I can just use a USB DAC?
Or do I need to get a preamp and have yet another remote?
I'd imagine you just plug the Shield into the TV and then plug the speakers into the TV. You can change volume on the Shield remote. Or use the TV remote. Or if your powered speakers have a remote, use that.
Have the same exact setup with the 305s and Shield.
Shield -> USB DAC -> lsr305s.
Works great and I can control the volume with the Shield remote.
I had Audioquest Dragonfly black between my Shield and Genelecs and it worked without problems.
The shield has a volume control. It also allows direct pass through, so up to you.
