Personally, I think this is ugly and the opposite of what I want. It honestly looks like its trying to look like the Amazon Prime Video interface.
The current look on MM and Nougat are preferrable. A home page with suggestions, and static icons to take me into the apps and i can navigate them from there. I dont want to navigate inside all my apps from the home screen.
Hopefully there will be a way to install the Nougat Leanback Launcher so you can have any new features without being forced with that homescreen.
Speaking of which does Amazon Prime Video work on it?
I can't wait to not get this update on my 2015 Sony AndroidTV!
Does the new interface remind anyone else of old shitty Google TV? Everything about Oreo from the TV to the phone feels like they're moving backwards and undoing all the good they did starting with Lollipop.
when for mibox?.............. ....
I don't see the resemblance to the Fire TV interface in any way. Can't figure out what people are seeing.
Anyone try Direct TV Now app on oreo yet?
I wonder if Tvapp repo will work with Oreo to add non-native apps to the home screen
Anybody not on beta get the ota yet?
I really wish they'd open up the launcher to developers.
This reminds me too much of the bold Fire TV interface which I hated and stop using because of how it looked
This update is just making it easier for me to justify ditching Android TV and getting an Apple TV. Can't stand iPhones(Android phones FTW any day), but Android TV sucks just as much.
With everyone (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, Apple, etc.) dumping money into it original content it seems pretty obvious that video delivery platforms should be attempting to agragate all of that content in a single view.
I'm not saying this is a great interface, but I think it's at least a step in the right direction conceptually. We need to get to a point where I can just see all of the content in one place and not have to think about where it's coming from.
