I've been setting up a home cinema set but I'm starting to get pretty confused. I've bought a projector that's in the back of my room and the mibox is on a shelf right below it, connected via HDMI cable. Now i've bought a SAMSUNG HT-J5500 home cinema set and was planning to place it in the front of my room and get a 8M RCA (to connect to my homecinema set) to 3.5mm jack (in my mibox), but is this the most optimal setup? Should I maybe place my mibox in the front too and get a long HDMI cable? Or will a RCA to 3.5MM even work for 5.1 surround sound?
I've read quite a lot about home cinema shit but I can't seem to figure this out and I'm kinda stuck on it, would love some suggestions :)
I don't think you'll get real 5.1 out if 3.5mm. Your receiver may do some digital wizardry to make it sound better though. Typically you would run Source -> receiver -> display with HDMI. Receiver handles the audio and passes the video signal along.
