I have the 2015 16Gb Shield TV. A few months ago voice search stopped working, it just always says "I'm sorry I didn't catch that". I didn't notice whether it coincided with a Sheild update or not. The weird thing is it is broken everywhere (Android phone remote app, controller, remote, and even a USB microphone). I factory reset and that didn't help either. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening to me?
I have the same shield and voice search always says "Google is unavailable" then I have to use my phone to type it's really annoying. Need to find a fix
So I factory reset again, and voice search (via the game controller) worked until I added my remote control. So it seems to be my remote causing the issue. Really don't want to pay $50 for a replacement.
I had trouble shortly after I purchases mine and it turned out to be slow wifi....got a better router and it works perfectly. It was strange because it worked out of the box and streaming worked fine but YouTube icons and voice search stopped working over a short period of time..testing wired didn't work either..needed a new router
Not sure if this helps but location services has to be on for it to work
