Netflix preventing sleep when idle

by Snookieboy

Has anyone else Noticed the Netflix App on Android TV prevents their device from auto off/sleeping? Specifically, when Idle (ie: not playing an episode).

So for example I have auto-play next episode turned off specifically because I tend to watch Netflix in bed. With other devices (Apple TV, Roku, Xbox One etc) providing a video isn't playing the Netflix App doesn't prevent the device from auto-sleeping when the app is idle. So if no activity after a while the device just goes to sleep (and turns the TV off via CEC)

However since moving to Android TV it just spends all night keeping the TV on with its silly screensaver adverts for Netflix shows.

My setup: Nvidia Shield TV with idle 1 hour timeout for sleep mode.

If so, does anyone know anyway to get around it or fix it?

Sometimes I have to fight my with Sony Android TV to shut it off. This is in Netflix, the home screen and various other apps. I'll turn it off, put the remote down and take a step and the TV will turn on in spite of me. I repeat this 1 or 2 times before it stays off.

Who thought putting buggy mobile phone software in our TVs was a good idea?

Well, I did....used to anyway. This platform just needs to mature a bit more. I love the freedom and features of my Android phone and thought that's what I would get with Android TV. I've just been more disappointed than impressed. Don't get me wrong, I have been impressed and see some potential.....anyways I'm done venting, thanks for listening.
