have had the mi box for sometime now but only for youtube etc.
want to stream netflix but remember a lot of unhappiness about the netflix app on the mi box in past.
before I sub to netflix can someone tell me if the streaming problems have been fixed? or should I buy a roku stick for netflix?

Short story: Netflix works now
Long story: I got MiBox first month after its release, Netflix worked fine during the first few weeks, it stopped working after I updated the Netflix app via Play Store. I tried a lot of things trying to fix it (including calling Netflix and reset device) but no luck. Finally, I exchanged it and got a new unit from Walmart. But this time, I didn't update the Netflix app and turned off auto-update, Netflix works without any issues. (I think a functioning version of Netflix came pre-installed but won't get restored after factory reset, so after reset, you have to get the app from the Play Store )
Few month later, I got a system upgrade from Xiaomi, the description mentions DRM and some other security sounding words, so I started to wonder... after the system upgrade I updated my Netflix app, then... I launched Netflix... tried a few titles... everything still works! And Netflix has been working ever since.
Still works.
My original mi box wouldn't work at all with Netflix. I ordered a second one and it worked with no issues. I think there were lots of defective units in the beginning.
4k Youtube and Netflix don't work for me.
Works perfectly for me. Indeed, it's all I use my MiBox for.
I cant watch 4k in netflix. Solutions for this?
The Mi Box isn't one of Netflix's supported 4K devices so you can only watch up to 1080p content with it.
MiBox fully supports the DRM requirements enforced by Netflix.
Streaming Netflix on Mibox is totally dependent on the DRM features of the output device connected.
Run drminfo on Mibox and connect to each of your tv's HDMI ports.
Drminfo will report values from your TV. If you get HDCP 1.x your TV can stream 1080 res. HDCP 2.2, your tv is compatible with UHD 4K res. HDCP 'unsupported' means Netflix will see your tv as an insecure device. You must subscribe to the correct Netflix subscription level and your internet bandwidth must be sufficient.
