The FireTV NBC Sports app does work well with Android TV. No leanback shortcut but fully functional otherwise.

Any chance of someone uploading the NBC Sports Gold v2.0 without removing the Amazon service similar to the NBC Sports v3.1 in this post. So I can manually install it on my Fire TV as the latest version is terrible and I can't find this version anywhere to download.

There's no NBC Sports Android TV app. However, you can cast to Shield from your phone. There's also a Kodi plugin if you don't have a phone to cast from.
Edit, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were taking about NBC Sports Gold (didn't know that existed). It does supposedly support casting.
