Yeah, I think it will be a huge boost for the platform.

Nexus player was discontinued by Google. It's still supported but they're not producing anymore.

Not particularly, no.
Much rather have the photos app, a native YouTube app, show all the apps that can be installed on the play store instead of the limited list (it's ridiculous that I can install apps using the desktop play website to the tv and they don't appear as available on the TV).
Assistent is a mostly US only improvement and I don't see many advantages given the lackluster state of Android TV is not the priority for me.
