Not exactly USB but SiliconDust's HDHomeRun was recommended, although last time I checked when using HD channels there was an audio issue, at least on the Shield. Never heard if they fixed it.
Curious as well, I don't need DVR or anything, just something to add live TV to my Shield (already got a TV cable running in the room).
Being in the UK, you may also want to look at what DVBLogic have to offer.

I watch Freeview DVB-T TV in the Land Down Under with Android boxes all the time. I consider myself a demanding Live and recorded TV sports viewer and can spot poor quality deinterlaced picture output result a mile away.
The Mi Box has pretty poor deinterlacing for Live and Recorded TV.
It outputs half motion 25fps deinterlcing, which a bunch of TV's have issues with - particularly for sports viewing. SD mpeg2 content deinterlacing also produces blocky picture output results on the Mi Box.
You have two budget options IMHO, both are DIY if you want superior TV viewing output results:

The Play2 option works really well with that custom ATV ROM for TV viewing using Android TV's friendly Live Channels / TvHeadend setup App. The Play2 can also dual boot to LibreELEC Kodi Krypton. You can also directly pair and use those superb Xiaomi bluetooth remotes with that ATV ROM.
