system app that cant run over other ATV devices??

by elada22

there is a new TV service company in my country. if a customer wants to join this tv service he is required to rent from them an android TV box or use their phone/tab app. i have xiaomi tv box for each tv which saves me the cost and hassle to rent their tv box. there is an option to join as 'app only' but they do not released the android tv app to the play store. some users managed to pull out the android tv apk from their tv box. i got it installed on my mibox but it just disappear after installing.

what could be the problem here?

There's no problem. Go into your settings menu & look for the app within the 'App' section of the menu, it'll be listed there alphabetically.

It didn't show up on your screen/main app tray because you sideloaded the apk.

For future reference, install something like this to have all your sideloaded apps in one easily accessible place from your home screen/leanback launcher.

Android Tablet Apps from the regular mobile/tablet/touchscreen Playstore (or sideloaded) mostly do not work on Android TV because they will either show in an oversized display mode to make them unusable or operate in landscape mode.

Landscape mode can be corrected with another Rotation locker App, but you will still have scaling issues, then you also need to use a PITA Air mouse with all tablet/touchscreen Apps.

You need to install the Sideload Launcher App from the Android TV playstore to have tablet Apps, grouped in a common folder and be able to run them.

The alternate Apps store Aptoide.apk can be installed using a File manager like X-Plore on to Android TV to then provide direct install access for some regular tablet/mobile Android Apps.
