Just a guess, are you downloading the ARM64 version of Firefox? If so try the "regular" ARM APK and see if that installs
If you are running your Mi Box on your home network, you might look at a network based adblocker. I have a PiHole network adblocker on my network. No setup or apps required on any device attached to my network. It filters the ads buy blocking DNS request to known advertizing domains. You can quickly black/white list others via web interface. Well worth the hardware cost.
Don't have a mi box but you should be able to load "Brave" which is a chrome Base browser with an adblocker. Works great on shield tv
