Is Amazon video accessible on MiBox?

by segaman1

Since MiBox is now officially an AndroidTV device, can you access Amazon video like on Shield?

Found this old thread https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/56jm3o/psa_amazon_video_works_on_the_mi_box/ but seems like Amazon had that apk removed since. I was thinking of getting MiBox but if I can't access my Amazon Prime account videos, I don't know if it's worth it. I use Amazon video, netflix, hbogo, and kodi on a regular basis.

Amazon video for Android TV isn't really available on any device other than Sony TVs and the Shield. Somebody cobbled together a thing for other ATV devices using the Android app and a custom launcher, but they got C&D'd. If Amazon access is important to you, look elsewhere. Fire TV is great if Amazon is your primary source. Otherwise, check out Roku.

I sideloaded it on my mibox but there are video and audio quality issues. I have a Sony bluray that I use for Prime and to watch movies on discs.

Amazon video is only available on select Android TV devices.

The mi box is not one of them.

For your use case and presumably budget, maybe look into a Roku or fire TV.

There is a kodi add-on for it. Only works on kodi 18.

From what I've read others posting in the past (can't test as I'm on 7.0 beta) if you install the Amazon app store & are running the 6.0 OS, Amazon Video supposedly installs from there just fine.

Read that it's also available in the Google Play Store now as well, so a voice input install may also work, as it does with Chrome..?

Someone will surely test it out now if it hasn't been done already & report back.

Amazon uses a lot of DRM to lock down Amazon video. To the point where i don't even bother trying to use it
