Nexus player running DTN better than Mibox?

by TheOnlyLibretto

I downloaded a modified Directv now apk I found on here from a sendspace link. I've had it on my mibox a couple days and it sucks. Channels are slow loading up and when they do the audio is fine but video stutters and goes frame by frame. This goes on for about 30secs before picking up and running normal, but you can notice a lack in resolution. Yesterday I installed the same apk on my Nexus player and it runs absolutely fine. Channels take a couple secs to come up, stream starts in bad quality but goes straight to HD in a few seconds with no lack in resolution.

Wondering if anyone else encountered this on the mibox and if there's some fix? It certainly should run it just the same as the Nexus player if not better shouldn't it?

I downloaded the same one on my Nvidia Shield and it’s terrible. It’s like watching a picture slideshow. Any idea of why that’d be?

Runs perfect on the Nexus. It's tolerable on the mibox after about 45secs after choosing a channel, but then the picture isn't quite HD. I've tried changing the resolution, changing HDMI cables and TVs. No joy. I guess I'll just cast the channels from my phone until they officially release an Android tv apk.

"It certainly should run it just the same as the Nexus player"...

Actually not, the Nexus Player has a different hardware and/or a different processor compared to the Mi Box, so for an app to be able to work properly, it must be "optimized" for that particular hardware, otherwise it will have playback issues, interface issues, etc.

There is an app called Qello Concerts I have installed on my Mi Box, the app interface works fine but it doesn't play the concerts in HD, only in SD because, according to the developers, the app hasn't been optimized for the Mi Box as of yet.

Maybe that "modified" apk was optimized for the Nexus Player or maybe it wasn't, the point is every android app whether if it's for a cellphone or for an Android TV device must be optimized for every single hardware out there...
