Are these apps available for Android TV's Nvidia Shield

by WhereIsFiber

Having a hard time finding whether certain apps are available with the Shield TV. I guess I'd like to use the Shield for its Plex server, Google Assistant, Android TV Web browser, and the following apps if the apps are availabe in Android TV:

Free Speech TV (their web site says it will work on Android TV but their wording seemed kinda iffy to me -- just wanna double-check)

RT America (availabe for Android phones, but not sure if this same app will work on Android TV? I think I read a lot of Android apps from the Google Play Store will work on Android TV, but not all.)

Channel Pear (web site says will work on Android devices, but doesn't mention Android TV specifically)

How good is Sony's PS Vue app for Android TV -- as good as it is on the Amazon Fire TV?

Is the Shield's remote control as useful with the "Web Browser for Android TV" as the Amazon Fire TV's remote control is for using the "Downloader" web browser?

Does "Web Browser for Android TV" have as robust an implementation of javascript as the "Downloader" app on Fire TV? Never seen javascript work so well on a TV box.

Thanks!

RT America - propaganda network is available as a streaming channel on the Pluto TV app or as mentioned the Puppetmaster app

Channel Pear - works as a Kodi plugin but there are apps that are much better

Web Browser - Puffin TV by far is the best browser for navigation and ease of use it supports flash also Opera Browser is also very good browser

PS Vue App - Works very well

Good day comrade

Not sure about the others, but the PS Vue app is as good as the Fire TV or the PS4.

It doesn't make for a very useful web browser machine. It can be done, but Chrome doesn't pop up in the tiles so you have to do a workaround to launch it. And the remote doesn't work at all, so you either need to use the gamepad or plug in a keyboard/mouse. If web browsing is a major usage case, you should look into a regular HTPC.

As far as the other apps, you can sideload them but whether they've been optimized to be used with a remote is a completely different story. Similar to Chrome, it might not appear on the homescreen and also might not work at all with the remote.

The best web browser that I've used for Android TV is Lightning Web Browser v4.4.2. It allows navigation with the remote control but that feature no longer works in v4.4.3 and higher, unfortunately.

Do you want to read RT America on your TV? Or do you just want to follow the live stream?

Because the live stream is easy to obtain using puppetmaster tv.
