My WD hard drive was working just fine for a week or so, now it won’t show up anymore. Under ‘storage’ it says it’s ejected safely. The drive is formatted as exfat, tv is android. Is there a known fix?

I don't imagine this is a serious issue for the time being, it's quite possible that you accidentally ejected the drive or a system update ejected it to prevent any damage. It might be worth looking to see which apps have read/write permission for the drive as they may be the root cause.
Reinserting the drive should be sufficient for Android to recognise it but restarting the device should work equally well.
I'm having his issue currently on my Phillips Android TV. I'm about to factory reset the TV if I don't find a fix for it by midnight. It has been an issue for about 5 months now. I think it is a setting or a custom app has taken control of it.
Apparently reinitializing the OS made the HD show up again. Hope this isn’t becoming a ritual though.
