I wanted a simple solution in my home office to be able to do video conference using my Android TV. Which I can simply operate with remote and no other additional hardware.
Need suggestions for
- Camera and Mic hardware for full HD
- App solution to do video conference ( Worst I can sideload skype / Zoom android mobile app )
I have MiBox. Will the Sony Bravia USB Camera-Mic work with this? I was also considering Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p.
Hello, if you really want to do videocalling on the Mi Box there is one solution but you need to know also that Android TV devices are not supporting USB webcams so far except for the Nvidia Shield, that means the Mi Box is NOT supporting them as of yet.
There is one video calling application optimized for all Android TV devices, the app is called TELLYBEAN which is available on the play store for all Android TV devices, but since webcams are not supported they invented a solution for that: converting your existing cellphone into a webcam so you can place it underneath or above the TV; to do this you have to install on you phone an app called "tellybean camera", it's still on beta but it works as advertised, I've been able to use this application to videocall my friends and family and it's really cool.
The app on your Android TV device is always connected (unless you end your session) and you will receive a notification at the bottom right of the screen every time you have incoming calls, it's not obtrusive, you will see it whether you're watching videos or playing a game.
You don't have to create a new account to use the app, all you have to do is to login using your existing Google credentials right inside the app.
The tellybean videocalling app can also be installed on iOS and Android cellphones to videocall anywhere and it's also available on the web for Windows, Mac and Linux computers.
for more information about this app, please go to www.tellybean.com
I highly recommend it.
