Anyone else had problems to update the shield tv remote firmware?

I got the latest experience update on the shield tv 2017 and after that I got notified that there was new firmware for the remote.

Well first it took ages to get to the end, and after that it said that it failed to update the firmware. However the remote was still working fine so I carried along with using it.

However when I was ready to turn it off I took a look at the shield accessories page (where you can see your remote and controller) and it said that my remote was not connected?

Well excuse me, apparently my remote that I used to get on that menu was not connected.

In the end however all it took was to plug it into the usb, and then the shield that previously reported that the remote had 1.10 FW and was not connected. Now it said that it indeed was connected and it has 1.16 FW on it.

Just a little bug I think, but still makes me little nervous every time when there is a new firmware update on the accessories, because last time it did almost the same thing. Only difference was that the last time I had to pair the remote with the shield again.

Did you restart before trying to install the remote firmware?

Which remote are you using? The old one or the one that came with the 2017 Shield?

I had issues getting the controller to update until I plugged it into a USB brick I had plugged in the wall, and then it updated without issue.

I had issues with it, too. My remote firmware downloaded, flashed, then at the end of the flash said it failed. The remote wouldn't connect to the shield until I physically connected the remote and restarted the shield. I didn't even bother to check to afterward if the remote firmware was at 1.16 or not because ... I just don't care :\

I updated the remote without restarting. It took a very long time like you said, but updated successfully. It previously had 1.0 FW.

I know that this might sound stupid.. but charge your remote fully before trying to update it.. Failure up update could be because of the battery and when you tried shutting it off, the battery died?

In a positive note the controller updated quickly and without any "update failed" things.

My console was too close to my TV and was interfering with it, I moved the Shield TV box to a new location and everything works awesome now.....try it.....it's something easy to try, worked great for me!

I had this issue. Tonight I told my Shield to forget my remote and after re adding it back the update took right away.
