Just sideloaded on my Sony Tv, few observations:
Assistant can pick up my voice, finally! I bought a cheap usb mic a few weeks ago, and had to realize, if i'm not standing next to my tv, it has zero chance to understand me. Assistant on the other hand can pick up my voice, while i'm sitting like 3,5 meter away from my tv, and i'm not shouting, just speaking normally. This is awesome!
After i triggered Assistant, and answers my question, there is a "Press the mic button to speak" message active on the screen. Now at this point even if i press my search button again, it doesn't activates Assistant, i have to close the window, and press the search again. So i can't do "conversation" type of searches. This might be because of the sideloaded app, maybe my remote sending the incorrect key command. Right now i'm using a "Search" keycode. I tried the "Voice search" command, but that's just opens the inbuilt voice search, the normal one. Same thing happens when i try to use the Android TV remote app, i can activate Assistant, but after it opens i can't issue another command.
Assistant only works for me on the Home screen, otherwise my search key triggers the app specific voice search.
Google said Sony Bravia will receive Google Assistant in 'coming month' Link: https://www.blog.google/products/assistant/your-google-assistant-now-on-android-tv/
You can sideload Google V3.0 which has Google Assistant then change your language to US English to enable full power of GOOGLE assistant. Working on my Sony TV 2015
