Control Android TV with Google Home?

I've always used my Google Home to control my Chromecast. I would say things like Hey Google, Play Stranger Things on Netflix ... and it would do it. Now it can't now it says Sorry, I can't play Netflix on Android TV devices yet . Which is fine, I can accept that.

However, if something is playing, I used to be able to say Hey Google, Pause My TV or Hey Google, next episode . Now with an Android TV (Shield) I can't do those simple control functions anymore. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have only been able to control Android TV if I started the cast from the Google Home but this only works with YouTube and Play music. When casting to an actual Chromecast all of the above should work no problem.

I have the old remote that isn't always on, but if I press the voice button and GA comes up it will let me pause YouTube videos via my voice
