MiBox 3 modifications to show Kodi only?

by kirashira

Is there anyway to have the MiBox open right into Kodi always? Or some other mod to make it very user friendly for an elderly person?

Reason is I'm looking to add foreign channels to Kodi for my grandparents to watch using a MiBox.

Thanks in advance!

Look for "Launch on Boot" in the Google Play Store.

To do so, create a file name xbmc_env.properties (if not existing) in the root of your external storage (normally, "/sdcard"). Add:

xbmc.autostart=yes

There have been a bunch of posts on this topic, including setting up Kodi (or SPMC, the better fork of Kodi for AndroidTV) as the default launcher. And there was a post on setting up HALauncher as the default, which can limit the home screen to just a selected number of apps that you want to appear.

It's just mi box, mi box 3 is a completely different device running a different OS. (I'm sorry I can't help you, just trying to prevent some confusion)

If they never hit Home, Kodi would never even close. Putting it in sleep mode would bring it right back to Kodi when you turn it back on. Plus it's pretty easy even for an elderly person to click the Kodi icon on the home screen. Just a thought in case you can't figure out a way
