Help with Google Play Music

by bobhays

I can't play any music on GPM without casting. When I try to search for anything it says no results. None of my radio stations or podcasts show up, and I can't play local files I've loaded on the MI Box. I can't even cast songs that are locally on my phone without casting the entire phone.

I've tried the usual fixes of uninstalling updates, clearing data, resyncing, and relogging Google accounts. Are there any suggestions to fix this?

Also why is Google so inconsistent with their own apps. The playstore, movies, and games, have a generic app icon/card thing and actually work, and the music app has an android TV specific card like as if it's been given special attention on android TV only to be a broken mess.

This is tempting me to switch to Spotify but GPM just works so well on my phone.

Ugh I am having to same issue. Even when I select a play list nothing shows up! It's horrible! The worst part? The Play Music app on my TV hasn't been updated since Sept...2016! And no updates are available. Such bs.

Did you unplug it and then plug it back in. Seriously. Sometimes a simple power cycle will fix problems.

As for the rest, not sure what you mean. The first row of stuff, the one that changes, is the suggestions row. You can go into settings and change what apps show suggestions. It'll also show what you are out were just playing like GPM, YouTube, iHeart, etc.

The second section is just all your(or most) of your installed apps.

On my shield TV, I have a third section with games like Altos Adventures, a Game Cube emulator, etc.
